Support
Mannix College prides itself on assisting residents make the transition from school to university. In addition to helping through the academic side of things. (see: Academic Support), we have people in place to help deal with other needs that arise. The Principal and the Dean play a lead role in pastoral care, ensuring that there are sufficient levels of support to meet the needs of a group of young adults.
The Resident Advisors are senior students who are strategically positioned on each of the floors to look out for students, to ensure they are settling in well, and to respond when there is a need for a listening ear, a specialist referral, or the administering of first aid. These Resident Advisors are effective listeners, and are trained to help each individual attain a sense of self and personal wellbeing. They can identify situations that require immediate attention and work with the Dean or others to resolve crises. They know what services are available in the College, university or community that they can call upon for assistance when necessary. The Resident Advisors are the front-line of a well developed pastoral care team that ensures residents' needs are well accommodated.
