Bedrooms

Students are well resourced with their serviced private rooms in the College, which feature a walk in wardrobe, hot and cold running water and vanity, central heating, new carpet and curtains, desk, bookshelves and bed, pillow and a mattress protector. Fresh linen is provided weekly (excluding doonas - freshers must bring their own doona when they move in). College staff clean the rooms twice a week. Bedrooms also have their own telephone with voice mail and broadband Internet connection. All rooms are in close proximity to a corridor common room and shared bathroom facilities. Students are allocated their room in the first year, but in later years they are able to indicate a preference for a particular room.

Residents can decorate their rooms, within practical guidelines. The rooms are used for conference guests over the major breaks and are transformed at the start of the academic year into the personal spaces or 'homes' for over 200 Mannix residents.

Meals

Dining Room

The Dining Room is a focal centre for College life, as all meals are eaten here. Formal Dinners on Wednesday night are an opportunity for the community to come together as a whole.

Of the twenty meals provided each week (no meal is provided on Saturday nights), 17 of them provide a hot food option. Fruit is always available, as well as a salad bar at lunch and dinner. The College caters for vegetarians at every meal. Our Catering Manager is always happy to discuss any dietary needs with our residents and make arrangements where needed.

Breakfast and Brunch

Continental breakfasts are provided each day, with hot breakfast options offered on Tuesday and Thursday. Brunch, from 10.00am - 12.45pm on Saturdays and Sundays, is a well-anticipated and enjoyed event with a range of tempting dishes.

Lunch

Mannix always offers a salad sandwich bar at lunch, or you can choose a hot option. Toasted sandwiches, of course, are always popular.

Residents unable to return to the College for lunch can prepare a sandwich or two at breakfast time to take with them.

Dinner

Dinner is always three courses, a variety of choices, including vegetarian and salads, and fruit and hot and cold drinks are made available. Residents unable to return to College in time for Dinner are able to request that a packaged meal be prepared for them on most evenings.

Formal dinners (when students wear their undergraduate gowns), which attended by the Principal, Dean, other staff, SCR members and guests at High Table, occur weekly.

Cooking

Residents wishing to prepare their own meals are able to book and use the kitchen provided near the JCR. Cooking classes for those who wish to learn basic skills or how to cook a particular cuisine are also offered occasionally.
