Principal:Damien McCartin
The Principal is the Chief Executive Officer of the College, and is responsible for the day to day leadership of the College in all its aspects.
The Principal has the final responsibility for the welfare of the members, for the administration of the College and for the observance of the College rules. The Principal shares with the Council the responsibility for the governance of the College. The Principal represents the College in dealing with the University, the community and with the Heads of other Colleges.
Damien McCartin graduated with degrees in Economics and Politics and in Social Work from Monash University, and a Graduate Diploma in Health Science. An alumnus of Mannix College after residing there during his undergraduate years, Damien has lived and worked in several university colleges and halls in Australia. He has also worked in a variety of fields, including as Student Counsellor at the Australian Catholic University, teaching Social Work at Monash University, and social policy research and analysis (not to mention agitation) with the Good Shepherd Youth and Family Service. He regards colleges as providing the finest way to experience university life; enabling students to develop socially, emotionally and intellectually, and making the most effective education one that acknowledges and supports the whole student.
Dean: Barbara Shea
The Dean is responsible to the Principal and for the day-to-day leadership of the College in his absence. She particularly assists the Principal in the academic, administrative, pastoral and disciplinary management of the College with special responsibility for the pastoral care of the students.
Barbara Shea graduated with a Bachelor of Theology degree and a Diploma of Education from Monash University. She was a resident at Mannix College during her studies. Prior to returning as Dean of the College, Barbara worked as a secondary school teacher, a staff member of a boarding school, the House and Conference Manager at St. Mary's College, University of Melbourne and as clerk to the solicitors of the Legal Aid Commission of Victoria at the Melbourne Children's Court. She is challenged by the tertiary years and regards it as a privilege to work with students at this formative time of their lives.
Business Manager: Jim Flynn
Associate Business Manager: Damien Cairns
The Business Managers are responsible to the Principal for the management of the financial business of the College, and for the overall supervision of the general office and of the catering, cleaning and maintenance staff.
