Name: Maddie Thiele
G'day, ciao, Guten Tag! I'm Maddie and I come from the sunny and flat (yet charming) land of Mildura by the Murray River. I love travelling and learning languages, and I couldn't live without live music and theatre. I have a minor addiction to buying new DVD's and music concerts. I study performing arts, which I hope will eventually lead me to some form of paid work, but I love the spontaneity of the field! I can't wait to get this year cranking at Mannix! I love this years' bunch of R.A.s and Committee and staff. 2009 is going to be FANTASTIC!! :) cheers.
MID WEST
Name: Matt Warry Well, my name is Matt and I am to be an R.A. on the rocking Midwest with Bonnie. Feel free to call me Pengaz, Peng, Pingu or any other derivation of these names you can think of. One day if you’re lucky enough I may even perhaps explain to you the origin of this weird nickname.
Name: Bonnie Einsiedel
Hi Freshers! My name is Bonnie Einsiedel. I'm just as exotic as my Prussian surname. But you can call me B, Bon-Bon, Bonatron, Bonanza, Bonfire or anything else because I respond to everything. I come from the sunny, green paradise without a bus stop - the beautiful Red Hill South. I'm proud to be studying the least-employable-but-most-enjoyable course, Arts with a focus in politics and French. I hope to be the first female PM of Australia next year or maybe the French President in 2020. I will be teaming up with Pengas on Mid-West for the best year the floor has ever seen. I like dancing, sniffing whiteboard markers, late night JCR music jams with fellow R.A. Thiele, eating chocolate muffins, pretending I can speak French and MCSS functions. I'm also a human rights advocate and hope that fellow 'Equity, Community & Culture' R.A. Ash Witt and I can involve you in some volunteering/issues/world-saving during your time at Mannix. I look forward to having a dance with you all in Mannixtown '09!
BOT EAST
Name: Sarah Vogrig Hi guys my name is Sarah and I am Bot East R.A. in 2009. I am originally from Drouin (it's in Gippsland, Victoria) but have adapted easily to all that Clayton has to offer, that solely being the university. I am in my second year of uni studying Law/Commerce. I am also an Academic Advisor for the college so if you need help with anything nerd related I'm the first point of contact. In my role as R.A. this year I hope to create a super floor whereby I trade people on my floor for the elite from other floors so as to rule Mannix... note: I have not confirmed this with Davor as yet. Freshers allow me to warn you that you are in for the craziest year of your lives. You will love it!
Name: Davor Pavlin-Premrl
Hey everyone. I’m Davor (pronounced daa-vor),or dav, or just 'd' for the lazy ones out there. In case you’re wondering, my exotic name comes from the beautiful land of Slovenia. This year I’ll be resident advisoring on Bot East with Sarah Vogrig, whose veins also happen to be pumping Slovenian blood. My R.A. portfolio is Academic Advisor, which means I’ll help out with the organising of tutorials and what goes on in the library.
Like many at Mannix, I am *sigh* another medical student. Although the 8am lectures can be painful, overall I quite enjoy my course, and am looking forward to the challenges of second year in 2009.
There are many things to love about Mannix. For a lonely soul hailing from Radelaide who arrived in Clayton with nothing but a few meager possessions and an articulate accent, Mannix provided the perfect environment to make great friends from all over Australia. I’ve even learned to accept that “school” can be pronounced as “skewl” if one so desires. I hope you all get as much out of Mannix as I have.
BOT WEST
Name: Pieta Bucello
Hi there! I’m Pieta a.k.a Piets or “P”. I’m originally from a little town called Foster, in South Gippsland. When not studying Nutrition and Dietetics at Monash I enjoy hiking, netball, bike riding, horse riding and hanging out with friends. This is my third year living at Mannix and I’m really looking forward to Bot West where I ’ll be R.A.-ing with the lovely Georgia. I think it’s safe to say that the very fact I ’m coming back for a third year means Mannix is a great place to live!! There is so much to do and always someone around to play with! My portfolio in 2009 is Marketing & Publicity, which I ’ll be sharing with the very creative Miss Jeannie May! We look forward to all of you getting involved with open day this year and promoting Mannix to all your friends! College is such a great experience and i’m looking forward to sharing it with you this year!
Name: Georgia Downing Hi Hi
TOP EAST
Name: Jeannie May In 2007 I packed my bags and left the little city of freezing Mount Gambier and trundled off to the big city of Melbourne. After a long journey I found myself peering up at Mannix College where I decided to settle. I can still be found there today on Top-East as an R.A. along with the wonderful, sensational Cameron Pike! I have also been entrusted, along with the lovely Pieta, the prestigious role of Marketing & Publicity and look forward to encouraging others to come along and try out the ever so fun and exciting ‘College Experience’. I’m in my 3rd year of studying Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education, so if I am not driving to Peninsula (to go to Ed. lectures - not to go to the beach), I will probably be tinkering the ivories or drumming my djembe down the corridor…Just keep your ears open, I’ll never be too far away!
Name: Cameron Pike
Hi, my name is Cameron, but most people call me Pikey, Pike-a-tron, Pike-a-saurus, Pike-a-chu and many other variations. I come from the very small town of Nirranda, Which is tacked onto the boring end of the Great Ocean Road. I left the family farm / small zoo and am currently in my 3rd year of a Civil Engineering degree.
In my spare time away from all that excitement I enjoy filling out surveys and talking to telemarketers.
TOP WEST Name: Xander Hadskis-Gordon Hi, I'm Xander, from New Zealand but don't hold that against me I can still have fun when away from farm petting zoos. I graduated High School in 2005 and in my year off I worked in a small village in Vanuatu. I learned many things while away, such as going for long periods without cleaning and the art of procrastinating work, both of which have served me well at Mannix. I am the other Top West RA and am studying Biotechnology in the hopes of creating the worlds first genetically modified super baby. In my spare time I can't get enough of the formal dinners at Mannix, the MCSS run weekly functions and vests, you can never have enough formal dinner vests from Savers.
Name: Ashleigh Witt
Hi hi! My name is Ash and I come from sunny, sunny North Queensland, so I’m slowly getting used to icy cold Melbourne weather. This year I am lucky enough to be an RA on Top West, and I am looking forward to another fun and exciting year at Mannix. I am currently studying medicine in the hopes of saving the world and finding my McDreamy, but it’s really only a temporary career path as I plan to become a Pussycat doll when I grow up. I love Gossip Girl marathons, trips to the supermarket, dancing and most of all Thursday night functions in the Mannix JCR.
